Started up on some Mignot Cossacks that have been sitting around for about 6 months

Hi Mike,
if you choose to paint Atamanski Don Cossack regiment then high collar should be dark blue with light blue pipping and the headgear bag should be also light blue. Regular Don regiments had red distinctive colour. Parade waist belt was of colour textile but usually on campaign cossacks wore wide black leather belt.
Regards.

Aie! First difficulties are coming ...
But the painting is beautiful and neat; perhaps a bit more shadow on the side oposite to your light source ... ??
and ... for a soldier !! His spearhead is not sharpened !! not dangerous enough ...

Haha. Yes the spear point is dull! I noticed after. Thank you both. Oleg I took the uniform out of osprey but now I see that the collar does indeed have light blue piping so thank you for that. The busby is red in these paintings however. Is it a different Regiment? I'm about to do 2 more, but have them in scavenged clothing rather than uniforms

The three cossacks. I think I am going to put them into a small shadow box with groundwork

Thanks guys. I found the dismounted one very difficult. I had a hard time on the shading given how he's crouching. Used the original rousselot watercolors for guidance but didn't work as well as I would have liked. Oh well!

magnificient base for these two Cossacks at the MFCA!!!!
