On a semi-related front, Stephanie Coudert's fantastic site on flat figures -
http://stephanecoudert.com/ - has a wonderful example using some of these figures as wells other Bretegnier figures from this time period:

a. These are beautifully painted examples of these figures.
b. I am curious about the two flags represented here. I have a number of resources illustrating French army flags - which are endlessly colorful - but, I have never seen either of these listed. Does anyone know what they trace back to?
Based on the content one could assume the first is directly related to the King and Maison du Roi but, again I have yet to find a reference.
c. For members there is a nice section on this site in the Uniformology/Ancien Regime section on these figures called Le Grand Etat Major de Louis XIV - Christian Terana which has some examples of this set - not sure if they are Gottstein or Terana - and an article on the uniforms as written by Christian Terana.
