Thats why I quitted Flat Figures.
It is impossible for me to paint them a way that I dont think: I kill the engravers art.
This kind of painting IS art.Gratulations to Jean Paul.

Ok there Hoss slow up ??? You paint the way you like and every time you do :o you learn. The last show I went to with my elephants one guy told me I had to make my Figures POP ::) ? I have been looking on this page and have not found that. I like to paint dark and others us washes. If you feel that you can't do it then try maybe a bigger flat or go to rounds. You well be surprised on what you can do 8) Willie

Wonderful painting and finish, am always impressed when darkish blue is painted well. This is done very well.

Excellent painting, wonderful lights effets givng volume to the caparaçon.
Congratulations Jean-Paul!

Superbly painting and engraving!
Ok ... but quite sincerely is it not something wrong with the proportions of the figur itself?

If you suggest, perhaps (you have not described what is strange ... with this flat), that the size of the knight could perhaps be large against the horse, I have heard and read several times, that horses ijn the middle age were significantky smaller than those today (like humans !).
Silmilarly to the peplum movies of the years '60's where uniforms from antiquity and middle age were brillant, all romans red, today all horse engraved and mounted are large and high, but actually truth is somewhat different ...
The analysis of a large quantity of equine bones buried in the United Kingdom over more than thirteen centuries, between 300 and 1650 of our era, has made it possible to demonstrate that medieval horses, even fighting ones, approached more of our modern ponies than the sport horses we know. (1m30 to 1m50 instead of 1m70 !)

Nice painting of a nice figure.
The knights of Mr. Friedrich are really some of the best figures you can get today.
He also engraved some burgundy knights for Mr Lehnart and these figures are just great.

Another SUPER figure!
May one ask about your painting technique of the heraldics?
Do you use oils?
Anyway: outstanding paintwork!

In this case the drawing is engraved, otherwise I draw the pattern in pencil. I paint in oil and as far as possible I try not to overflow between 2 areas. I use lighter fluid to dilute and it dries faster

Yes very nice!
Really nice.
In my opinion, the Crecy set of Mr. Friedrich is one of the best sets of flats edited in the last few years.

Very nice Jean_Paul!
Outstanding paintwork and photographic technique.
Since I always had problems with making good pictures about my figures, I would be glad if you give advices how you make your beautiful pictures.
I mean the settings of the camera, the arrangement of the background/lightening etc.
I know that these information are kind of "secret ones", but if something of them can be shared with, us it would be nice.
