-
Great job guys! Feeling inspired and that I won't be defeated by the Brandenburgers!
I love those little heinrichsen scenes Eric. I think I have one someplace and now I want to paint it
-
Brian, you are forcing me to go back to the atelier NOW !!!!
OK, then I will start working on the second Scottish piekeman, as the first one was started before initiating the project ....
It is the flat WM193, a Scott holding a Guisarme (probably taken to an English , which was rather their own favourite weapon, than the long pike...)
It is just taken from the remaining pièces from Dick.
Thereore I have some preparatory tasks before starting the painting this week:
1) I think cut the pike above the upper blade of the guisarme ?
2) Sharpen the blades and the points of the guisarme
3) Re-shape the two sidemays points based on photographs from guisarmes
4) As usual with my flats now, remove (cut) and shape the left pointing side of the support base of the flat, as I do for all framed flats (one sided painted), and sharpen the opposite side to enter easily in the carton-plume slit put on the frame.
5) Clean the edges and details of the flat; prior to undercoating...
-
Not an expert in Midde age = do I need to cut out a second blade, to keep only an axis, like the halberd below, or only top blade, to have a voulge or a bill??
Or can both be kept (without the spike) ?? or has no sense ???
Thanks for your advise to go further !!!

-
You have to choose one among the three !
Eric
-
Just don't cut yourself Michel that looks very sharp.
-
Thanks Eric !!
I'll try Mike, actually could use the metal nude and polished on the blade with some thin varnish layer to stop any oxidation.
-
Day 3 and as said no rules :)
Figure photo 3 from me

-Lochaber axe (a typical scottish weapon used from the middle Age well into the 18th century, see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lochaber_axe)
-a viking style war axe

I could not go so fast
-
Very nice Jan
I like your painting way
Eric
-
Are these 30mm or the bigger Mars figures? but do look good ;)
-
Super Christian, exactly what I was searching for !!!
Yesterday evening after Eric's reply I cut the axis and the pike to keep the center part. All was ready and cleaned for undercoating, but I did not know what to do with these two hooks !! and looked further on the net ... ready to send pctures of yesterday's work...
This morning I planned to keep the main hook only and put is straight at right angle of the blade, but my car was again not functionning, and stopped in the enter or our city here. Put on a truck, go to the rand servicing at 85 km and diagnosis that repair might take two weeks, come back not Under 40°C but a stormy gale of water and frozen block, wet, two hors to be back home ... and nothing done of the day.
But your message came perfectly timed !!! A lochaber axe, and with a hook as optional!!
I will work tonight and finish the reparation, send pictures and go on tomorrow !!!!
Thanks!!!
-
Hi Brian,
Thanks for the reminder. Here's one I did 40 years ago!!! It's a Scheibert figure which I painted as if he was the Duke of Marlborough. Hope you like it.
Peter
-
Freday.
These attached figures are representing some Swedish foot regiments and their colours under the Great Nordic War. If you are a keen observer you may notice there are some difference between the uniforms. They are all in 30mm and engraved by G.W.Rössner.
I am just adding them on a weekly bases to keep Brian in a good mood!
Jan
-
They're terrific and I love the flags and the subject matter (being a closet Charles XII fan)
-
I can't add peintings done recently as I did not paint during the last two months.
Préparation of the Scottish Piekeman goes on as explained two days ago, as follows:
- reshaping of all my framed flats at bottom = no more front foot and sharpening of back foot
- sharpening of the blade (I still have to finish the hook) = Mike !!
- all edges finishing is complete too
Today I finish it and will undercoat. (sorry so slow, restart is a bit rusty!!!)
But thanks Brian, for this waking up this week!!
I will continue on the Project side and track the other participants !!
-
.... and I was ready to straighten the hook (computer simulated)

Figure of the day
A burgundian banner of St Christoph
Eric

No painter work and no trendsetter. All sorts of heads

I like these heads, can already see them painted and in a small frame, I need a set Wolfgang ;D
And once again another fine figure from Eric ;)
-
Yes, Brian, Is i not the murder of Tomas Beckett in the Cathedral of Canterbury in ... 1170 or 1190?? (getting old....)
-
First prize to Michel ;D
Yes it's the Beckett set from the BFFS which is still available on request ;)
Ignore the paint, it was a rush just to make sure it worked, you can do much better 8)
-
1904 Peeping Tom, somewhat blurred. According to Edition Krannich's brand new book this and two (actually one?) other figures in the set was drawn by F. K. Mohr before he and editor Werner Scholtz parted in 1951.
-
It may look like Im not here, but my Boy Steven is back from summer camp today and he hogs the computer. My machine and I don't get much of a chance to use it hahaha
-
Finally my Scott is ready for painting !!!
Undercoat than oïl painting .... Restarting after a long pause ...
Just the shaft was bent during cleaning, detail to fix on painting.....
-
But let me also show you a hughe flat in resin started last year here in Turkey, but not completed yet ... I fund it back and will have to finish it, perhaps for Ransart 2018 !?
But there is work still for several weeks !!!!!!!
It is a production of Serhan Oflas, Turkeish naval engineer who produced several orogonal large flats during the past two yeras.
This one is 160mm high !! and is Barak, the Last Khan of the Ak Orda, which you can find in this forum: http://www.intflatfigures.org/index.php?topic=2789.msg18520#msg18520

Hello Eric, Thank you for your observation while completing the mainting.
But I am not an expert in Napoleonic period, and I am not sure to understand your comment = what do you call yellow an green garnments, if blue?? Have you a picture ?

Michel

First of all by the time of Waterlooo the French Army was using what it could get its hands on . As for the paintings I believe that painting is in the National Army Museum. Now this is where it gets a bet gray. A lot of those famous battles where painted in the Victorian era years after the real battles. :o That's one thing about Napoleonic Uniforms it drives you nuts or to drink a lot :P Willie
-
In my case and with the three previous attempts done in the past "That's one thing about Napoleonic Uniforms it drives you nuts". >:( >:(
Reason why my Historical perdiod stops prior to French Revolution !!! ;D ;D ;D

Well it's over!! another 7 days postings has finished and you can all come out of hiding now hahaha

-
Well done Eric, well done ;)
-
The heads for figures of napoleon time from the year 1806th
They also have different sizes. From 30mm figures to 40mm.
They are for the conversion of figures to produce a certain dynamism and variety.
Brian since we do not see us Kulmbach :-\, I'll let you get a copy. ;D ;D ;D
