I was just informed that this famous set is in the possession of Sholtz, and that the figures will be issued once again after the molds have been cleaned
-
This is good news, beautiful figures. I have half of this set from an auction of figures from the Great Jim Woodley. I have been chipping away at them - great engraving of the ruthless/haughty Assyrian leaders.

Could you keep us informed as to when the figures will be issued?
Thanks

When Scholtz takes over moulds, you normally can only buy whole series, and to a horrendous (http://ordbok.woxikon.se/sv-en/horrendous) prize. I don’t know if it is possible to order single figures out of a series, but if so, I fear that the prize will even more horrible! (http://ordbok.woxikon.se/sv-en/horrendous)
In the old days, when Franz Beck was alive and had his moulds of wonderful figures (Germans), he would happily cast a single figure and for a reasonable cost too. And the same was true for the Gottstein figures as well.
So it’s a bad thing that the figure treasure of Gottstein will now meet the same tragic faith of not being bought by so many collectors anymore. They will be FAR too expensive! Sadly enough. :'(
-
When they become available I will probably buy them. I will never paint anywhere near all of them so would be happy to share some of them with everyone here
-
I 'm ready to split some with you, Mike! if interested intead of a full set, because I have some other boughts there and there
-
Deal!
-
Just a word to say that I noticed on EBay that a set of 5 Gottstein unpainted elephants were sold nearly 400 euros !
Just crazy !
Eric
-
yes two crazy bidders !!!
-
They have been showing up more frequently of late. I am wondering if they are being recast by Leipzig or someone else.

I believe one seller acquired a large collection that included many complete or near complete sets. The battle of murten sold for hundreds as well. Oh well!
-
I will let go of quite a few of my Gottstein figures at the Kulmbach fair. (among hundreds of other very good figures)
Welcome to get them!
See you all in Kulmbach! :)
/Louis
-
I would be happy to relieve you of some of them now Louis if you don't want to bring them all to kulmbach. Please let me know!
-
Dear all,
the Leipzig collectors announced recently they will cast two more Gottstein sets in 2018 : The Landsknechts (a spectacular set engraved by L. Frank) and the 30-years war set. And they will continuously release more sets in the following years.
-
That's terrific thanks Alexander. They will be sold through Berliner zinnfiguren as the others have?
-
Yes, Alexander, on which channel they can be purchased?
Do you know sg. about it, please?
I am interested in the TYW set most.
Thank you.

Mike,
Ha, ha,
You have to come to 'Mecca' in order to get the Gottstein pieces! About 100 figures. ;)
You will find them at row C4 in the beer tent close to the entrance where the office is situated.
-
Hello Louis
If Mike was not at Kulmbach, I would be very interested in Gottstein pieces.
After the fair, I could send the spare figures to Mike if OK.
Richard
-
I'd be up for that! I'm afraid I cannot attend kulmbach
-
Richard,
Everybody is welcome to our booth and buy figures. And we have lots and lots of them for sale! All perfect casts!
In the catalog you may find our booth in row 4 under the name Jan Sennebo, who is my associate, rather I am his! ;)
-
I can attest that Jan and Louis always have some little treasures among the hundreds (thousands ?) of figures they use to bring
Don't miss them ! (I won't ask for any fee for this advertisement ;) ;) )

I have posted some Gottstein Burgundians in the For Sale/Exchange section.
I also have all these figures which are from the Gottstein/Blum Battle of Murten set. There are lots of duplicates as you can see and some of the castings are not very crisp, I think due to the condition of the moulds. These are all engraved by Sixtus Maier (the Elder)
Anyone interested in these, I will take a reasonable offer.
Charles

Charles, id buy two of each if you're interested. Just let me know what you want for them. Thanks!
-
