Thank you Sandor.
I do a black grounding and then I paint the basic colour. Next I mix the colour with some white to paint the ligths. I repeat this some times by adding some more white each time.

Do you make a black ground-coat and thereafter apply you the brighter colours?

here are two spanish horsemen from around 1500. Like they had fought in the italian wars.
