After diging threw my stuff I found one more it is by Almark publications 1972 US Army Uniforms 1939-1945 by Roy Dilley . In the front of the book it talks about the 1926 uniform  :o  Willie

After do some research I found I made a mistake the unit ensigina was only on the left side. I am sorry about that

Ok the unit ensigina on both sleeves rank on both sleeves on the overcoat the dress coat and the cotton and wool shirts along with Breeches Cotton wool this uniform came in 1926  and was used up 1941 the Cavarly boots where issued 1931 and a new pattern was issued in 1940 the leging top was tightened by three straps and buckles. If you want the stock numbers  I can give you those

Ok the top one is the division,the second is his rank corporal ,third is    service stripes for how many years he has been in . They use to call them  hash marks

What does the right sleeve look like? Only the angles? Or the division sign? The pictures I found are quite confusing .... Waffen SS would have been easier  :o

Just logged onto your first picture and came up with opportunity to log as unsafe but, it does show that the picture is called Hawaii serving soldier.
So now you know where he was.

Here are There more books . First the Man at Arm's series by Osprey  The U.S. Army 1890-1920 by Philip Katcher numbers  82 and 230 next is the Elite series by Osprey World War US Cavarly Units Pacific War by Gordon L Rottman number 175 . Then there is the Quartermaster Museum at Fort Lee VA it a very nice collection :o Willie
