Great article.
Had a chance to discuss the topic of painting. The commonality between both of these great artists seems to be in the meticulous preparation and undercoating of the figure...an area I usually hurry through. Their other commonality is the use of rather thin coats of oils...and an extensive drying time before final touches.

Yes, great stuff!  I admire his clean detail and crisp stunning color he achieves - particularly as I don't.  I love his tip on heraldry which I shall try as I still can't paint 2 Fleur de Lis the same despite many tries.  As a lover of heraldry and the French Army of the Louis's this is a major failing...
