Thank you Guys,
Yes, you are absolutely correct, I've just been spoiled by seeing the great fine detail done by the artists on this forum, heck! I can't even find a brush small enough to do the fine lettering I see on some of the shields, flags, bags etc.! ???

LOOK Ray :o every one has his own style in painting ??? I learn something every time I sit down at my paint table. I get more on my hands then I do on the figure :P Use the paint that you like  Oils or Acrylics and if you cant paint the flags and shields then go to the war game site and look at the decals and flags for sale 28 mm would be the close to the figures. I think it is a great Idea to learn from other people if its in a club or a show or YU TUBE :o I ought to know when I moved down to Southern FL I join a toy soldier club and at one meeting voiced the same thing. Well this is what I got I have been painting for  45 year and we don't  need to learn anything. So fast forward to this year and there show and now we need to do things to keep the club going ,get the picture.  :o You know what I have been painting a set of Boxer Chines I got from my mother in 1965  :o I do not know how many times I have painted them and turned around and striped them and started over :P . As for reinventing the wheel every day when I get up I do that ::) As for going back to school to take a art class I  would go for it. I would take the figure painting class ??? As for color mixing I think I have talked about a couple of books on the subject.  Color Mixing Recipes for Landscapes, For Portraits, Color Mixing Recipes.by Walter Foster. So that's about it hang in there and paint. Willie

Scott,
I'd love to, but for me it would be a case of reinventing the wheel, I would have to go thru a trial and error process from the most basics of how to paint the flat. Oils vs Acrylics, how thin is thinning the paints, color scales, shading etc.
I've always envied the German clubs that get together with experienced painters to learn the basics and then refine a technic, have beers and share and learn the art. I've thought of taking art classes at the local community college but I think there would be a huge difference between painting a canvas and painting a 30mm flat figure :D
Ray
By the way I did receive from the site I mentioned the shields of Crecy with a corresponding list of titles, very handy, they have a series of flags at Crecy which I'm going to pick up as well

Hi Ray,

I know you send out your figures to be painted, but have you tried painting yourself?

These guys look to be an easy start  ;)

Thank you Bob,
Looks like it has possibilities! I've kind of done the same, I found a great little site with 1/72 scale color stickers of shields for the Crecy battle on both sides with text naming of who's house they belong to. https://www.tsminiaturen.de/  very inexpensive, I plan to just keep them all for reference material. I am working with Fernando's painters now on the figures, I will post pics as we progress.
Sincerly,
Ray
