Title: World Expo Pics
Post by: Beatha on July 08, 2017, 10:33:42 PM
I took about 1000 pics here, so about a quarter have been uploaded. Right now the flats are among the other figures. If people would prefer I can try to do a separate album later, but if you are eager to see the flats, they should be pretty visible. Several Penny Meyer ones here, including the David Bowie I'd love to find: https://www.flickr.com/photos/65585730@N02/albums (https://www.flickr.com/photos/65585730@N02/albums)

Thanks Beathan exceptional pictures for these first 199 !!
Don't worry to mix the flats wih the other ones.

Would you allow me to load the pictures related to the flats here on our site in a gallery?  I will then start sorting and doing, and as other pictures are also communicated from other sources, pick-up the best in a second phase.

Any indication on the painter's name and painting's name are welcome also !!!

Michel

I believe the David Bowie is scratch built by Penny.

Most probably indeed, like some other portraits.  On Xtreme enlargement, we an see some relief made n the face, like the noose, the lips and the chin.  I amnot sre whether the whole face is not just painted on the background, a piece of resin material.

So not a real flat, but artistic combination of miniatures, bas-relief and flat.  Jean Pierre Duthilleul is doing a bit the same here in France.

These are créations and unique pieces...

Thanks for the pictures.
Any ideas who made this: http://www.intflatfigures.org/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=9202
A Diorama with paper figures, looks great!!!
What paper was used, what kind of colours?
I need to have some more informations about that.

Unfortunately Christoph, I receive picture without any indication about the author, the subject, size, although I think in the USA, these information exist in front of each piece.  But I am happy to have high quality photographs, so well taken at first instance, on focus, centering, lights, altough aken on the spot and not in a cabin, I believe.

Perhaps the organizers have such list, but I ignore who to contact, at distance, and someone could perhaps help from the US side of IFFS to obtain such data ??

Most of details given were from past expos, cross checks, articles, direct contacts or from my pictures collection, whch takes time...., but news articles are new !
I will complete them anyway as infos are collected now or in the future ...

I find this diorama particularly exceptional in quality, density of the characters, beauty of the background.

If someone present at Chicago knows more, he/she will be warmly welcome !!

Hi all!
It´s a diorama from an exhibition that took place in Paris in the early 1930-ies. The exhibition showed various dioramas of French history, all with unique cut out and painted figures. The creators of the figures and dioramas were well known artist such as Lucien Rousselot. This diorama has been on sale at a well known dealer for more than a year.

Dear all,

I like these dioramas very much, too. There are probably more than 30 of it existing. I added some examples which had been for sale in recent years at Drouot.

I added a bunch more pics tonight, and I think I've now put up all the flats. The Alexander at Issus was also a gold winner. It was indeed spectacular! They're in the same place as the others, and I'm hoping to finish with a third and maybe fourth album tomorrow but the flats should all be up. And thanks for the info on the Bowie piece!

Michel,     Jean Pierre Duthilleul was in attendance along with, I believe, the pieces you refer to. He is in the group of artists that astonish the viewer with the detail they achieve.

Thank you PJD, actually I was very lucky to have two photographers with excellent pictures, and on restoration for a bypass 4 weeks ago, I had plenty of time at home to remaster them during the entire week (over 5o hours work)....

It is a pleasure to bring them in this gallery and please correct me on any mistake found.  If you have better pics, we can replace or add them too ...

This exhibition is one of the best in quality, seen so far ! and I will miss Kulmbach, booked since two years !!! (arrgh!)
