Friends, recently I painted a few musketeers from Droste's series "Allgemeine Reiters" of 30 years War.
I had to ascertain again, that these figures are very well drawn and engraved - Droste was a great master.

Doctor Freiherr von Droste has nothing in common with the production and quality. he was neither a draftsman nor did he engrave the figures himself. ;)

Hello,
Mr. von Droste was one of the great editor of the 20th century. Without his work the world of flats would be a lot poorer. His set "Wallensteins Lager" is outstanding. And his figures for the armies of the thirty years war are great. It Needs alot of time, energy and moeny to get such a huge amount of moulds together. And he edited some seven years war and romans too.
Nice to see some of his figures are shown here.

Thank you for the information - and sorry for my lack of knowledge :-[ !!
And may one know who was the drawer and who was the engraver of the majority of the figures?

Hello Sandor,
as far as I know Daniel Lepeltier did a lot of the engraving, see here:

And I think Mr. Söllner had done some engraving for him too.
Alot of the drawings were done by Karl Heinrichs and some by Martin Block
I hope I´m right, that is what was told to me by some old collectors and what is marked on the figures.
