That's the final step, but I'll wait a few days in case I spot a problem, then put it behind glass in a frame.

That looks terrific Ed. Is it going into a picture frame?

I am not taking part in this project, but I did buy the set in Kulmbach, and have just mounted them in a diorama

Good start Mike!  One of my characters is the same (left) !!
(Why would'nt you open a separate WIP post to let francesco finish his own?)

Thank so much Michel for your suggestions, really appreciated.  About oils I think to use them above all on armour since I can control better the translations between max light and max shadow. Hope you will continue to help me in this work.

Good start Francesco !  I love it!
My suggestions:
1) Would be better to sharpen the spike of the pike with fine sand paper to confirm these weapons are dangerous, simple to do.
2) With these quiet simple coat of arms and the heavy engraving, also to 'almost' totally remove the coat of arms on the front side to keep a trace and paint as free hands as I learned  a few years ago that colours were not added and sewed ver the background colour, but in the tissue; this seems too strongly visible here for this figure.
3) Question: are you planning to add oil painting as you seem to suggest: an acrylic undercoat?  I am curious for myself
Good idea to start with the back side to experiment ...
Note: considering my age and later start in figure painting (5 years ago) and health alert this year (bypass), I am only painting one selected side of my flats, in order to double my painting capacity in diversification ! (but this is a personal decision)

Azincourt, the sunrise. The english army is deploying and Jacques d'Heilly is shows to the french princes their movements. He doesn't know that at the end of the day he will be dead.
Just to get confident with the figures I started the back side of Jacques d'Heilly. Still a lot of work to do ,above all on armour, but I' d like to show you my progress in order to have your suggestions about it. As you can see I choose a "dramatic" paint thinking at sunrise time. Only acrylics up to now.
Cheers
Francesco
