Thanks, Nick & Victor.

The Blogger thing is quite easy to do.  I tend to keep mine tightly focused on the figures (and ships) but the sky's the limit really.  The community aspect of it has been one of the most pleasant surprises.

Thanks very much, Scott.

And I won't be baited into Kieler vs. Heinricshen. ;)

Steve,

I just "discovered" your blogsite. Wow! I'll have to keep an eye on it.

(Nice to see that someone can actually make a Heinrichsen flat look good.)

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

Eric, no question that you and I share the love for the classic Heinricshen 40mm sets. I just got another one, Thirty Years War (both modern re-issue castings and some old painted ones for cheap on German eBay).  It's contemporary to Wallensteins Lager, with more generals and fighting poses. It's beautiful, particularly the mounted commanders.

I don't know who Heinrichsen had doing the designing and engraving back in the 1880's, but many of the figures hold their own relative to anything done since.

Posted these on my blog a while back but never at the BFFS.  This is an old set from 1882, Kämpfe aus der Römerzeit.  Painted with acrylics.
