Dear Brian,

My father, Belgian was on military service when war started in 1940, he escaped to Morocco, then to England engaged there to be sent for a few years to Canada to become a pilot, came back in the R.A.F. as pilot of Lancaster in 1944 at the Scottish base of Montrose and ended up as pilot trainer there....
He was extremely proud to belong to the R.A.F and ended up in the Belgian Air force as reserve colonel in the Belgian Air Force.   (I did alo my military service in the Air Force as candidate officer).
I visited the Montrose base and WWII wooden barracks and small museum ten years ago with by then 87 years old mother ..., sitill alive today!

That 10 days trip around Scotland wit my wife and mother was one of the best vacations I had in my life, for the extreme friendship of the Scottish people met ...
