Greetings, Mike, from another Welsh member, though from the other end of the country from Mike Thomas. Congratulations on finding flats in Chester. I regularly go there but have yet to find any in any antique shop. I'm afraid that Historia Muller folded a couple of years ago and their figures were being sold by other distributors at Kulmbach.

Yours in two dimensions,
Ed Humphreys

Mike, One thing you will find is that as you start to paint flats and understand the direction of light etc. You will  find it also improves your round painting as you will start to incorporate this shading technique to better effect, bringing a new diamention to these as well.

Sorry Mike,

I should have told you that "Historia - Müller hasn´t got any website. You know  ... the old system, a catalouge withouth pictures. I am not even sure about their present post address.

To be honest, these figures you were showing are not the very best of Rössners production, believe they were made late in his life.

If nobody else will give you the address to Historia-Müller and you still are interested I will track it down for you.

They look ok to me.

Welcome to the society Mike, if you need any help when painting just ask and someone will answer.

I look forward to seeing these as you paint them.

Thanks for kind welcome Nick.
Not sure when I'll paint these but look forward to the challenge. I've got a few more commissioned round figures I need to do first & will have to learn/ adapt new techniques to paint them.

Glad I found this place as it will be helpful I'm sure.

A warm welcome to the forum Mike.

Did you find the figures in a shop? if so you've managed to do something I haven't had the pleasure of yet.

Hi Roger

I got them in a small antique store in Chester & they had a few more including an impressive winter sleigh set from 19 th century. My wife wasn't keen on it & I have a MedRom passion so these guys fitted best.

Still can't track down website with them on to learn more - any ideas.

Thanks for interview

Looks to me to be figures engraved by Georg W. Rössner.  You  are right about the period and the figures are for sale through Historia Müller.

Jan

Thanks Jan have you got a link to the website please.

Hi guys,

Just signed up here but been around modelling web for a while.
In UK for holiday at present & was inspired by mate in Wales Dr Mike Thomas to take another look,at flats. He had some lovely little ones painted up on display which even my wife was impressed by ( she doesn't do figures ;-).

So looking round Chester came across a set she bought for me, which I've loosely themed around a late Medieval era Mercenary band as this will allow me some latitude in painting & detail.

Not sure if they are any good as flats but would appreciate any further help on their provenance please. Can anyone help me please?

Thanks in advance

Mike
