Hello Roger

A good idea from you giving that references material.
Just a word about the drawer Michel Pétard : he is concerned by the accurate details and the reenactment of his characters' look. He made famous works on uniform, weapon, equipment and... the 17-18th centuries French Navy.

Regards.

Hello Jan

Yes the engraver is Sixtus Maier Sr as the letters SM are engraved on the base.
On the other side of it you can only see the number 21.
No editor's mark, unfortunately.

Yes, that´s was one of the thoughts I also had, one of Marshal de Saxes volunteers. I think you are right there Richard.
I could, just by looking how the eye of the horse is engraved almost certainly tell that the figure was engraved by Sixtus Maier Sr.

Very interesting figure, is there any mark on the base telling about the producer?

Dear Jan,

Thanks for your answer. It is valuable for me planning figures quests for the close Kulmbach Fair and I shall visit Maier’s stand.

About the uhlan you are probably right. The dress colours could be Prussian Frei Korps von Kleist‘s or Uhlan Volontaire de Saxe’s, the gard of the French Marechal de Saxe. Their uniforms dress were close to each other as fashion cut and colours. And as sometime Sixtus Maier worked after works by French drawers, then I imagined that figure could be French Uhlan’s.

Thanks again.

Dear Richard,

I thought that someone else should step forward and help you to identify the figures you showed. But as the situation is I will try to give you some information.

The first figure is a French hussar officer of 1830. Edited by D. Gastaldi. But unfortunately today only this officer and a bugler are aviable as the moulds for rest of the set is lost. Today Liselott Maier is casting and selling these two figures.

I not familiar with  the second figure but I believe it is a Bosniaker from the Preussian army under Fredrich the Great period.

The footfigures you will find all together with similar figures at Liselott  Maier´s stand at Kulmbach. As I understand you are going.

Hello !

My first post on the new site !

Congratulations and thanks to those who manage and make the site living.

Here is my question : who knows where I could find these following figures ?

The figure above wears only the signature of Sixtus Maier the Elder.
These  below the signature of Ludwig Frank and the mark of Hans Loy.

The question is the same for this hussard figure. But I can not give any information about it, as the image was found on eBay’s site.

See you at Kulmbach Fair !
