of my sets of Napoleonic flats...I have decided that those that I prefer are the flats marked NONN on the base...I like the matt finish and the excellent detail...I have a few questions...1) - a brief history of NONN marked figures ... 2) - all the sets I have are Prussian , are there also British , French , Austrian sets ?...new here ...thanks in advance...Michael

Hello,
I have a "Nonn" catalogue. In fact the author is Siegfried Nonn, Kranzbergstrasse 14 D-86316 Friedberg.
It is only about the Prussian Army during the years 1813/1815 (staff, infantry, cavalry, artillery).
The figures were designed by Karl Heinrichs.

So I have learn something !

BUSSY...thanks so much for the reply...can you tell me when those Nonn figures were made ?...and just an added note , I have seen Napoleonic Austrian and Hungarian Nonn figures...I use the Prussian Nonn figures I have for war gaming right along side those using 28mm round figs...people envy me because I do not have to paint them...lol...and by the way , I have had the good fortune of visiting your fantastic Army Museum , WOW!

Hi all,
the moulds are now in the possession of Ruthard Bunzel, Weidenbruch 15, 21147 Hamburg, Tel.: 040/7016294, Fax: 040/70294849. Mr. Bunzel
has unfortunately no E-Mail or web-site.
Nonn had wonderful Napoleonics, but please note, they are all bigger than for example figures from Frauendorf or Neckel. You can't put these
figures together.
Cheers
Roland

Nonn had made his figures in the 80s (?) and 90s of last century.
His catalogue shows only Prussian Napoleonics (cavalry, infantry, Landwehr, Volunteer Jagers, General Staff etc.)
No Austrians, no Brits, no others.
I personally had no problem combining them with other Napoleonics in a big diorama.

JOERG - thanks for the reply...at this time I have NONN Silesian Landwehr , Prussian Jagers and Brandenburg Hussars...I do have a set of Hungarian Grenadiers on the way...the photos of that set certainly indicate they are NONN...will keep you advised...

@Hussar,
interestingly there had been flat figures editors back in times named NONN

The figure Roland and I am referring to can be seen here (top lines)

MY Nonn-catalogue has no other figures than Prussians (plus a few cililians, perhaps Saxons?).
Remains the question - what Hungarian Grenadiers are on their way to you ;) Old ones?
By the way - the catalogue is for sale here

the Hungarians I speak of I am purchasing from a person that contacted me...having seen I had bid on some flats on Ebay...I looked at several photos...they had that same Nonn matt finish...Nonn detail...and green base...they may not be Nonn...I will post when I get them...they look very similar to the Hungarian Grenadiers for sale at the Berliner Zinnfiguren site...and by the way , are you familiar with Two Trees Zinnfiguren which are exclusive to the Michigan Toy Soldier Company...
-
I am sorry, I never heard anything about Two Trees Zinnfiguren :(
-
"Two Trees Zinnfiguren" are pictured and for sale at the Michigan Toy Soldier Company web site
-
@Hussar,
I visited the website.
I do think, the flat figures are from a couple of German editors (e.g. Oldhafer), but the pictures are too small to be sure.
If I am right, the term "exclusive" is dedicated only to Northern America ;)

Indeed the figures came from quite a lot of different editors, including Maier (Loy) , Neckel, Bock and even Segom to name some. Painting of these might come at least in part from Sanath Fernando.
