Thanks, Nick/Willie. I've sculpted a 90mm Goth Harlequin which I plan on painting in black and blood red. I think it would disappear against my usual black felt background, so I'll give the turquoise green a shot.

Have a great holiday!

Glen, Nick.  You might want to get your hands on a real good photography book say for industrial . Kodak did some many years ago. Second your good old model railroad books.  Remember when you put that flat up against the backdrop you want it to stand out. Also try paint chips. Willie

Mr Mike Timson is the Man for you. ;D ;D

At one of the shows he had done exstensive work on colour backgrounds and he came to the conclusion the background needed to be a soft turquoise green . This showed up the figure's brilliantly.

My exposure to flats has been limited over the years. I've seen them at shows and have painted and sculpted a few. Nearly all, including the ones on these boards, have been displayed framed against a dark, usually black, backgrounds. So... if you have a dark figure, a Zulu warrior, Batman, or a dominatrix for example, what backgrounds do you use? The dark figures seem to get lost against the usual black background, but they don't seem - to my eye, at least - to pop against something else.

Just wondering.
