Thank you Wolfgang. As I gain more experience with oils I will become braver with light and shade. Hopefully with each new figure you will see that.

Roger as with your other work with oil paints, it is becoming ever better!
 :) :)
You will probably experience did. :o
In oil painting you ereicht much clear the depths Tone (fiery bright) than acrylic.
Have you ever thought about changing the direction of light?
I paint so that the light comes from the top left incident.
The result is that some parts of the body remain in the shadows. Although the engraving fold and objects created,
In light of all visible front with shade is framed and fitted with lights protruding elements.
It is possible that the figure and it is always a flat surface it will not appear in spatial.
This is not just my opinion, but also the men of the Leipzig-painting school. 8)

But you have the daring step! Now we have, thank God ... since! [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
best regards
Wolfgang

That's come out really well Roger. As everyone has noted you've got the hang of oil paints very quickly.
I'd like to see more of your 30mm figures though. Keep em coming

The main thing is about enjoying painting, and at the end of painting a figure you are happy with what you have achived.

Thank you Chris. It hasn't all been plain sailing but I think I'm getting the hang of it now and more importantly enjoying it.

Thank you Roger,

so - relying on Morier, my English Grenadier is rather correct, but is is uncertain, if he is corretly fixed with the battle of Minden 1759 :-\

Hello Joerg, thank you very much.
The wings were universally introduced at a slightly later date, if I remember correctly with the 1768 uniform regulations, in the David Morier paintings c.1750's some regiments have them and some not.
