Title: What I bought at Kulmbach
Post by: Charles on August 20, 2015, 06:43:45 AM
This time around I tried to restrict the number of flats I bought, and was quite successful.
Still, I got some beauties, all 30mm. I was particularly pleased with my trawl through the little trays at the Kieler stand.
I loved these Ottomans, gun crew and cavalry.
Then some cavalry standard bearers from the Sonderfiguren, an elephant and some Maximilian cavalry.
From Maier a few Burgundian cavalry, and some Romans from Cortum to complete a couple of small sets. The Maier part of the set of Wellington's staff at Waterloo, and a few odds to replace some poor castings I had.

Charles...cousin,

Indeed when will this madness end?

I have the Ottoman artillery on my list to buy from Kieler as well, just have not pulled the trigger yet.  I do love their wild uniforms and for some reason have a weakness for artillery.

All of your acquisitions look great, some nice variety and great castings, congratulations.

Thanks Mark
it's a tiny haul compared to previous visits.
As for artillery, I can't resist either. From Romans, Burgundians, Conquistadors right through to the First World War.
I don't know whether you get the chance to travel, but the Janissary Museum in Istanbul is a great place to get some inspiration on the Ottomans. Im sure you know the Kieler Ottomans are illustrated in their on-line catalogue, they are good clean castings. You can't go wrong there.
