Ok Mark. Here we go. 1. Ancients Armies and Enemies of Ancient Egypt and Assyria 3200 B.C. to 612 AD. This is a old book done by War Games Research Group it has Black and White drawings  on pages 18,19 Here is what they say about standards Egypt was divided into Nomes or  provinces, each of which bore its own coat of arms. When in battle the Nomes where carried on a pole serving as a standard of the Nomarch's forces  :o On page 19  A. Is the standard of the Hare which represented the 11th and 15 Nomes.
                                                                                                               B. The Sceptre Nome (uab) represented the 19th
C   Anupu or the Black Dog Nome represented the 17th province
Now in the New Kingdom the Nomes became regimental ensigns and where also augmented by other military and naval innovations. They where either of painted wood or metal or linen covered framework mounted on a pole and had base or metal butt to keep them upright.  :o On page 26-27 eight black and white pictures of standards of the New Kingdom also streamers where red and green Next would be Le Costume et les Armes des Soldats de Tous  Lestemps by the Funckens Vol 1  The Elite Series by Osprey the New Kingdom Egypt. and Ancient Armies of the Middle East. Ancient Armies by Concord . So hope this works for you I have to look for another book but I have to fined it  ::) Willie

If you have some information on the background/design or painted examples of this set can you let me know please?  Also anything on the Ancient Egyptian Army and their use of standards/standard bearers would be helpful.  (I have information from Osprey and several recent books on the Ancient Egyptian Army but, nothing else.  Particularly wondering if Military Modeling ever did anything on this subject?)

I am preparing an article for the journal on these fellows and am beginning to believe I may have the sole painted set in the world...  :o
