Just a short note on the Indian Army Uniform Books.

                    1. The Armies of India By Major G.F. Mac Munn DSO and paintings by Major A.G. Lovett.  This is one of best out standing books on the subject printed in 1911.  I thought I was buying one from Amazon and when it came it was small and the prints where Black and White :(  I was lucky  :o many years earlier I had been able to get the post cards of Lovett's Uniforms from the National Army Museum and need a couple more to round out the series. At present I do not know if the still have them for sale at the Museum.

                    2. I almost forgot Books by Foundry Colonial Armies, Armies of the 19th Century

                        1. Rivals of the Raj 1497-1941 By Peter Abbott printed in 2010
                        2. The British in India 1825-1859 By John French printed in 2006
                        3. Armies of the 19th Century Asia India's North East Frontier BY Ian Heath printed in 1999

So the Raj is now going to pour himself a drink and go out on to his veranda and watch the setting sung  8) Willie

I thought that I might go threw my Library and start a new series on different army's . I have a set of Indian Army figures from I would say 1890-1900 and the Elephant Artillery set.  I was thinking that if any one else has these I would like to recommend some books to help you paint.  So here it goes.

                            1. Indian Army Uniforms Cavalry By W.Y. Carman printed in 1961 Out standing book lots and lots of information.
                            2. Indian Army Uniforms Infantry By W.Y. Carman printed in 1969 Both these books have lots of B/W and some color, but the information is out standing
                            3. An Assemblage of Indian Army Soldiers & Uniforms By Michael Glover printed in 1973 Lots of Color by Charter Paul Charter his work.
                            4. Military Uniforms of Britain & The Empire BY Major B .Money Barnes printed in 1960 lots of Empire troops.

So this is the first installment on this subject more will be coming.  Willie

So now to get back to work. :o The third book by Gozo Somogyi  arrived yesterday and I am very pleased with it. This covers the Hungarian Soldiers in the World Wars 1914-1918,1939-1945 . It covers a lot of information and lots and lots of color plates. Not only uniforms but the Navy, Trains , Planes, River Guard, Red Regiments from the 20's World War II is covered very well. The next ones are going to be The Army of Transylvania 1559-1690 :o wonder if that comes with fangs or look into my eyes ??? . The Hungarian Military 1768-1848, Royal Hungarian Defense Force 1868-1914. Hungarian Flags. So we have a wide range of stuff for the painter. Most of these are paper back if you want a hard back, Then try the hardback book by Verlag Militaria and have deep pockets :o Willie
