Title: Warrior Babe - New
Post by: Glen on July 28, 2019, 09:35:32 AM
This is a new warrior babe flat from Reaper. 75mm tall, 4mm thick (most of that at the back). Drawn by me, computer sculpted by one of Reaper's regular computer artists, 3D printed, and cast in white metal by Reaper. It will be used as the class painting flat at ReaperCon (late Aug/early Sep). Not sure when the piece will available to the general public or at what cost. I'm painting two now - one in color and one in grayscale.

The future is a little closer...

Cheers,

Glen

Great work, Glenn. I've always liked your babes! Glad to see you getting some recognition in the Reaper world. Keep up the good work.

Painted! Being a fantasy figure that's not connected to any story, there's no limit to color schemes.

Cross posted to Gallery.

Great painting! You catch her face very nicely!

The making of this figure is an interesting development.
Yesterday I see photos of a figure made from a mould engaved by CNC milling. On one side it turned me a bit sad to see that computers take more and more part in an old trade like flats but on the other hand it is nice to see that there is an development pointing to the future.

There will always be hand engraved figures (as long as slate is available) for us to collect
CNC and 3d will just be part of the big tapestry of our world of the flat figure.

Thanks all. I enjoyed painting the piece and I have a number of other paint schemes and conversion possibilities in mind. The CNC/3D technology has been around long enough to do great flats with better anatomy and detail; even rendering textures. I still don't have a cost breakdown for the computer work and printing (working on it), so the big unknown is cost vs potential sales. Time (and wallets) will tell...
