I like the display and presentation.
 Excellent uniform plates!
Are all works from you thus assigned?
best regards
Wolfgang

Hi Alexander

Exept for Douchkine, whose style is usually an evidence, it is often difficult to identify some painters
This is sometimes the case between Hamel and Alexandre
But here I keep thinking it is Alexandre (I also asked C.Terana who agreed)
I have some Hamel figures which I will post and the way is slightly different
At the last Drouot auction I bought the Louis XIV court by Alexandre; when I get it we will compare

About a book on flat figures painters, past and present, it woul be a great idea
There are enough of them to make something really nice

Dear Eric,

I agree but with these figures I would rather think of Hamel being the painter.

Best regards

Alexander

P.S. I think it might be an idea to have a reference book on "the flats painters" i.e. from "pere" Hamel, Alexandre, Douchkine, Brandt, Glaser and Rieche to the more modern ones like Fischer etc.

Agree these make a fine presentation of what was a very colorful period.

Alexandre was a french painter of flats who worked from the 1930's to the 1960's for french and foreign collectors; many of his pâinted figures where ordered by Charles Felix Keller, the famous swiww collector.
His way of painting is between old and new style; paint is rather bright but volume is not bad and he loved painting little details.
I do like the way he painted XVIII° century armies as shown in the following pictures
