Now look at these, this is a change from the norm ;) and you know you need them in your collection, as well as their sisters when ready!!
Dirt cheap as well and can be painted as you like ;D
-
Could someone post the original artwork for the gal wearing the bicorn? I know the other one is Prussian, but I don't have a clue as to who/what the other one is supposed to be and I can't find it among the art posted on the FB page or through Google images.
Cheers,
Glen
-
Here you are, plus the next two to be made
-
I must say Bartek is an excellent artist and illustrater.
-
X2 Nick.
Thanks Brian! Getting started...
Glen
-
Hi Brian,
Would like to get a few of these...will you ship to USA?
Thanks,
Kevin

Friends,
please keep in mind, that the Prussian Hussar is not 100 per cent correct:
The sabretache must be glossy black for both Leib-Hussar-Regiments (with skulls-and-bones on the shako front).
So too sabretache for Pommeranian Hussars.
For the other Hussars the sabretache mit Royal cypher is correct.
Joerg
-
How many dozen's do you need Kevin!!! ;)
Yes we send our figures anywhere :)
-
Jeorg, could you clarify the sabretache design comment? I've seen several Google images where the sabretache is red with the cypher and the shako has the skull plate.
Also, is the gal wearing the bicorn (leger) French or German? There is a cocarde on the hat, but as illustrated it seems to be red and white rings with a black center. I would think the French would have red, white, and blue.
Obviously, the Napoelonic era is not my strong suit...
The above said, Bartek's illustrations are excellent and cover eras beyond the Napoleonic. There are some American Civil War pieces that would make outstanding flats. They are fantasy pieces, however, and my inclination is to paint them as such.
Now, for everyone else: these flats are outstanding. In my limited experience, these are easily the best small scale flats I've ever seen. Minimal cleanup, excellent anatomy, proportions, and perspective, plus crisp detail, and great faces. The people responsible for putting this project together did an excellent job. I'm looking forward to painting them.
Cheers,
Glen
-
@Glen, have you the figures in hand, that youcan be so generous with laurels? ;)
Though printed already in 1810 in Berlin - a (after 1810) Hussar with skulls and bones and red sabretache is wrong.
There were two Hussar regiments in 1810-1815 Prussian army that had sabretaches of black glossy leather -
the 1st and 2nd Leib-Hussars (and skulls and bones)
The Pomeranian Hussars had black sabretache too, but no skulls and bones.
The remaining three regiments (Brandenburg, 1st Silesian, 2nd Silesian) had no skulls and so on and red sabretache.
Both Silesian regiments with yellow cypher and brim; Brandenburg Regt. with white cypher an brim.
There is also the possibility to paint the Hussar as a Volunteer. Minimum two units had Hussar Uniforms (again - I will do the research if somebody wants).
The bicorne girl is French.
As painted Infanterie Légère for 1804 to 1807, but possible as Ligne too for that period.
BUT perhaps even possible as an Italian or Dutch ....
Hope this helps.
Joerg
-
eeeerrrrrrrrrr, yes Joerg I sent Glen a sample of each figure, they slipped into the parcel I was sending Glen ::)
-
Does anyone know where the reference books for these figures can be purchased?
Thanks...
-
Jeorg, thanks for the information! I'll go with the black sabertache and skulls.
Kevin, I think the Osprey Men-at-Arms series might be a good place to start. I've been running through Google sites and images, but as related below, I've run into a few contradictions. Nevertheless, I'll bow to Jeorg's superior knowledge on the subject and paint the sabretache black and go with red, white, blue on the Legere's cockarde.
All that said, these are fantasy figures. There are already some modifications to the uniforms - cropping, tight-fitting, and high-heeled boots - etc, so there is some built-in leeway as to interpretation. Why not pink trim on the Hussar...? ::)
Cheers,
Glen
-
Richard Poisson posted the books on facebook...they actually are books of these pinups...French published I think...
-
I have started an SBS in the Techniques forum using the French Infantrie Legere piece. Feel free to join in.
Glen
-
Just got two of Brians French Girls...great stuff...great service...
Thanks Brian...
Kevin
-
Hi Brain,
will you continue this lovely serie?
Best Regards
Alex
-
Hello Alex, yes there's two more from the drawings of Bartek and two originals, one from Joerg and the other from me, these will still be Napoleonic but the surprise one's ;)
-
Brian, are you putting the pinup pieces on the 2D site? I can't seem to find the ones already released, so I'm not sure if the others are going up as well.
Glen
-
Can someone - anyone - tell me where to get the these Napoleonic Pin-up girls based on Bartek's art? They do not appear on the 2D website. I want to spread the word and post them on Planet Figure and provide a link to their source, costs, and postage. I've asked Brian a couple of times, but he's either offline or not getting my email inquiries.
Also, is there any movement toward having the Little Tin Soldier carry these pieces in the US?
Standing by...
Glen
-
Hi Glen,
you can obtain the figures from me.
Unfortunately I am currently unable to access my website, so I can't place the New Releases :(
www.joerg.scheibe.de.vu (only with Internet Explorer)
Drawings for the next two are at the engraver; pictures for the last (?) two will go to the drawing guy (is it the expression?) within the next days.
Regards
Joerg
-
Thanks Joerg. Your site does not appear to have any clickable links and the top framing seems to be scrambled or broken. That might explain why you can access it. If you haven't done so, you might want to have your designer and host look at it. Brian tells me that 2D will also carry them, but for some reason they have not been uploaded to the 2D site.
I still need to know if anyone has approached The Little Tin Soldier about carrying them in the US. Does anyone know? I have a feeling Jack (LTS) doesn't know about them.
Cheers,
Glen
-
@Glen,
as I wrote:
ONLY with Internet Explorer you can find a working website.
(Just tested it a minute ago)
When the site was designed virtually No one used another explorer that IE; Chrome even wasn't invented....
Joerg
-
Jack at little Tin Soldier? I don't know, what do you think Joerg, Nick and Chris ;)
-
Joerg, I tried Chrome and IE. Neither worked at the time. I'll try the IE again. How old is your site? Since browsers are constantly evolving, maybe it's time for an upgrade?
...and Brian, Chris, Nick: do send some pics of the unpainted and painted Napoleonic Pinups. You can use my painted versions if you like. You might also send some pics of the next two/four as well, just so he's clear this isn't a one-shot deal.
Cheers,
Glen
-
It seems to work on Firefox on my Mac.Firefox is my first choice .
Martin
-
The to Figures painted by Glen ;D
No plans For LTS to stock the figures.
-
Joerg/Brian: what's the status of the next two Napoleonic Pin-up Girls? I haven't seen any mention of then in some time...
Glen
-
Hi Glen,
the drawings for the next four are at the engraver; she ist working Numbers 3 and 4.
Hopefully we will have priority with numbers 5 to 8.
Numbers 3 and four will be Hungarian + British.,
numbers 5 + 6 British and Prussian
numbers 7 and 8 will keep a hidden surprise (just to create some suspense) ;D
-
Thanks Joerg! I had the impression from the last discussion (before Christmas?) that they at the engraver and well along. I knew what 3 & 4 were, I had a hint at 5 & 6. ;) :-X
-
Again,
my kind of painting.
Gordon's Highlanders still in progress.

So, here we are:
Rosi and Sarah (PinUp5+6),
both completely done of our own mind....
both 45 mm
Drawing Max Märing
Engraving Regina Sonntag
-
Joerg, I saw the drawings on your site. Do you think they could be colored and posted on your site and here so that people will know what colors to use? It might help sales (I know in my case it would) ;) .
I'm working on Pinup #4 now. Lots of research to figure out what I was looking at.
Cheers,
Glen

Uhm, Glen, I am not quite sure if I got the point:
Here all figures are given in clour, as far as there are coloured examples.
Right now I am working at PinUp 5+6 and when finished I will present them here.
On my website coloured exampled can be found too (if existing).
I am going to add some alternative paintings, if I can get permission from the friends who painted them
and if I will win the struggle with HMTL.
If not that - what are you suggesting?
Regards
Joerg
-
Well Joerg, perhaps I'm a bit ahead of things...
My point is when a new product is announced, there should always be an image of the product (you did this) and there should always be a colored example as well - either a painted piece or a colored drawing. Not every one here is an expert in Napoleonic uniforms, least of all me. I, and others, need a painting guide; even if it's an enlarged copy of the drawing filled in with colored pencils. It doesn't have to be shaded or highlighted, just colored with as close as an example of the actual colors as possible so that the buyer knows that (as a generic example) the boots are black, the pants are gray, the jacket is red with white piping, the belts are white, etc. This could even be described as a short block to text as a starter: Pants = Dark Gray, Jacket = Crimson Red, etc. That said, nothings beats an actual color image.
This is an issue that is common in the flat industry and one that I have addressed before. I no longer buy pieces that that are nothing more than a few words and a price or just a name and a drawing. Text does nothing to describe the actual engraving/cast and drawings often have differences from the engraving as well. Painted pieces can hide a multitude of engraving/casting problems if it's the only reference. I've had too many disappointments there.
I am currently working on the Pinup #4, the Austrian (Hungarian) Grenadier. I plan to post a running series of images/text as an SBS in the Techniques Forum very soon. You and Brian are welcome to use the finished piece on your websites if you think it will help sell them.
Cheers,
Glen
-
Hello Glen,
thank you for the explanation.
My approach to figures is an other, but I think there should not be a big problem to add some colours to a drawing.
Just one point: Often you have a difference between drawing and engraving (in many of my figures too).
So - a coloured drawing can give you some kind of informaton, but there is no guarantee, that you will find every detail of the figure in the drawing.
But a agree, that a coloured pattern could be very helpful for non-experts ;)
Regards
Jörg
P.S. And thank you for your kind permission to use your very fine painting examples at my website.
