Title: Literature of medieval Burgundy
Post by: snagy on December 06, 2019, 01:28:08 PM
Friends,
I am just painting some Gottstein's Karl der Kühne figures.
It brought my appetite to read something about this theme.
So I am looking for literature of the medieval Burgundy, perhaps about Charles the Bold.
It can be a romantic/fictional work, like Reverte's Captain Alatriste.
In English or German language.
Is there any idea??
Thank you!
Happy Santa Claus in the meantime to all of you!! :D

Richard Vaughn has an interesting series on the most famous Dukes in English:

Philip the Bold, John the Fearless, Philip the Good and Charles the Bold

They lean on politics and administration but, give a nice feel for the time.

Good luck!

Thank you Mark!
You meant R. Vaughan.
I have found the series on eBay and have bought the volume "Charles the Bold" this morning.
Looking forward to get it!!
Thank you once again!
Season's greetings-

Hello Sandor,

"Der Landvogt Peter von Hagenbach" written by Hildburg Brauer-Gramm in german is interesting one. It´s telling the story of the burgundy reign at the upper Rhine area from 1469 to 1474. It was written in 1957, may you can get a used copy of it.

But to be true, there are not many books around which can match Reverte´s Alatriste.

Thank you Christoph!
I shall look after it.
Yes, I agree: Alatriste is a splendid work on the era! :D
Best regards and seasons greetings -
